Akiko Fujita is a journalist and storyteller based in Los Angeles. A veteran reporter with extensive experience in business and international news, Akiko’s career has taken her around the globe, to report on some of the most consequential stories for leading news organizations.
She was most recently an anchor and correspondent at Yahoo Finance, where she hosted a daily business show for the digital network out of New York, with a heavy focus on the intersection of technology and geopolitics. In this role, she traveled to China to secure an exclusive interview with the CEO of Huawei, at the height of US-China tensions. Akiko also helped launch the network’s longform video series NEXT, where she traveled across the country to explore emerging technologies and their impact on society.
Prior to that, she spent nearly a decade in Asia as an anchor at CNBC and correspondent for ABC News. As the co-host for Squawk Box Asia, Akiko anchored live from the World Economic Forum in Davos, secured an exclusive interview with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda, and provided around-the-clock coverage of the historic summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un for CNBC’s global network. She was the first network correspondent to report live on the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster.
Akiko began her career as a local TV news reporter in Washington and Idaho.

She is fluent in Japanese and a proud graduate of the University of Southern California.
